More than 17,500 children are separated from their mothers each year due to the imprisonment of women.

Families

Parenting and supporting women in the journey to become better role models and parents to their children is a fundamental part of our mission.

Around six in ten women in prison have dependent children. We want to support these mothers to enable a different narrative for their children. Ending generational crime helps to reduce re-offence rate and future offence rates.

We want to mitigate against the breakdown of family and society by changing the narrative around women in prison and to call for change to the current system by raising awareness of the plight of women in prison. Part of this is about addressing the longer-term implications of women being sent to prison or mental health.
