In 2022, just 6% of women were in paid employment within 6 months of release from custody— compared to 15% of men.

Training and Education

Practical training and education assists with the reduction in reoffending and improves the possibilities for ex-offenders to gain employment on leaving prison. Which in turn reflects the reduction in reoffending and the rehabilitation of women who have been in prison.

Through our Free To Be programme we give women the chance to self-reflect, address emotions in a safe environment and we give them tools, skills and techniques to assist them with processing these emotions.  These skills allow them to develop and grow as a person.

MyLife courses offer young women a chance to gain qualifications whilst studying topics that enhance social and life skills. These course were developed in conjunction with young offenders to help identify topics that they felt were important skills to develop.
